Light The Night Expands

lightthenightThe wonderful event Light the Night is expanding. Originally hosted by Munsey Park’s Womens Club four years ago, the event is scheduled to be held on Sunday, Dec. 8. This year the Women’s Club of Flower Hill is bringing Light the Night to Flower Hill, run in conjunction with the Village of Munsey Park.

The illumination kits for this event are purchased from Skills Unlimited. Founded in 1955, it is Suffolk County’s oldest non-profit agency serving the vocational training and mental health needs of persons with disabilities. This past week ladies from both The Women’s Club of Flower and Munsey Park Women’s Club Light the Night committees visited Skills Unlimited to tour the facility and place orders for the illumination kits.

Munsey Park and Flower Hill residents received flyers to order kits. The cost of a kit is $20 with additional kits costing $10 (recommended for corner houses and large properties). Proceeds of the sale go to the philanthropic funds of each village.

The illumination kits can be purchased:

Flower Hill:

Friday, Nov. 22 at the Flower Hill Village Hall from 12-2 p.m. or contact Karen Barnes @ karenbarnes@optonline.net for a pre-order form.

Munsey Park:

Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Waldmann Park/Polliwog Pond (Park Ave.). Pre-ordered kits can be picked up as well.

Rain or high wind will cause the event to be postponed—rain date is the following Sunday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. A second rain date is Monday, Dec.16 at 7 p.m.
