An alleged armed robber wanted for holding up banks across at least a half dozen states on the eastern seaboard over the past five months has been apprehended on Long Island, authorities said.

Luis Alomar was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in Medford on a federal arrest warrant charging him with robbery, according to the FBI, which had released his photo to local media Monday while noting that he has ties to the Mastic-Shirley area and is considered “armed and dangerous.”

The 37-year-old suspect is accused of robbing banks in Florida, Maryland, Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut between August and December.

“You will fucking die with the blink of an eye,” Alomar wrote in a note that he handed to a teller at the HSBC Bank in Wilmington, Delaware on the morning of Sept. 16, according to court documents. “I have a fully loaded handgun!!”

Alomar, who investigators said was wearing a tan cowboy hat and rimmed glasses at the time, then allegedly told the teller: “Don’t fuck with me. I’ll blow your head off.”

That was before he demanded that the manager let him into the vault and then told the manager to get in the vault and remove her shirt so that he could hide the large bags containing $74,000 cash as he fled, the documents show.

In most cases, he allegedly handed a demand note to the teller indicating he was carrying a weapon. In some cases, a weapon was displayed. He normally demanded large bills.

The FBI credited Suffolk County police, Westchester County police, Yonkers police, New York State Parole and Greenwich, Conn. police in tracking the suspect down.

Alomar will be arraigned in federal court at a later date.
