A Plainview youngster was one of 40 athletes from across tthe country who competed in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick National Finals in Denver during the AFC Divisional Playoff game Jan. 11.
Representing the New York Jets, Sebastian Lippman, 8, launched two punts, passes and kicks as he attempted to score on distance and accuracy. The second-grader from Pasadena Elementary School put on an impressive display, but ultimately came up short in the competition, finishing in fourth place.
But with punts, passes and kicks in excess of more than 100 feet, Lippman represented his team with skill and heart — and he vows to return next year and give it another shot.
It was not a total loss for Lippman, as the youngster enjoyed free tickets to the game between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers.
