The Farmingdale State men’s and women’s indoor track team competed at the NYU Team Challenge on Friday, Jan. 24, at the New Balance Track & Field Center in Manhattan.
Freshmen Stephen Schmidt of Levittown and Maia Cadle-Hinton of Huntington have been improving significantly in their respective events. The transition from high school to collegiate competition is difficult especially in the throwing events. The men’s shot put increases in weight from 12 lbs. to 16 lbs. and both the men and women have to learn a new event in the 35 lb. and 20 lb. weight throws. Through hard work and the excellent coaching of Anthony Forti and Ed Brown, Steve Schmidt and Maia Cadle-Hinton have consistently improved their performances at each meet. Once again, Steve and Maia set personal bests and moved up the Farmingdale all-time list.
