Jericho Middle School recently held the annual Geography Bee and eighth grader Ishan Gurnani was the winner. Chenlong Zheng was the runner up.
Ishan will now take a written test and up to 100 of the top scorers on that test in each state will then be eligible to compete in their state Bee. The National Geographic Society will provide an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. for state champions and teacher escorts to participate in the national championship rounds in May.
Other participants in the Bee were Matthew Lecher, Evan Goldstein, Brian Weinberger, Leland Chan, Jack Kasper, Swati Mandankumar, Molly Schwartz, Warren Wang and Kristal Wong.
