Editing Your Digital Photos

In this hands-on class at the Plainview-Old Bethpage library, 999 Old Country Rd., attendees will learn the basics of using a graphics program to edit photographed images. Icluded will be editing techniques in cropping, resizing, red-eye removal and much more. The cost is $5 per person, checks only, payable to POB Library. The event takes place at 2 p.m. in Room B. Abracadabra

The Plainview-Old Bethpage library, 999 Old Country Rd., invites tweens and teens in grades five through 12 to this program featuring a magic show workshop. The first half of the program will be an interactive magic show, while during the second half participants will learn magic tricks that will amaze their families and friends. Networking Mixer And Speed Networking

Carlyle At The Palace, 1600 Round Swamp Rd. in Plainview, hosts a can’t-miss networking event for professionals from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. At a cost of $20, attendees can join a speed networking event at 5:30 p.m. where they will meet other business professionals for approximately five minutes per round. After each round, one party stays and the other party will rotate. Then, at 6:30 p.m., the general networking mixer commences. Free Heart Health Screening

Plainview Hospital will be having a free opportunity for people to receive blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings at the hospital on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. The heart health screenings will take place in the hospital’s lecture rooms A and B. Parkinson’s Group

The Mid Island Y JCC, 45 Manetto Hill Rd., presents a group for those affected by Parkinson’s disease led by by Heather Goldman, LMSW and Kelly Soel, RN. The group discussion will also feature “Medications Related to Parkinson’s Disease” presented by Maria Mantione, B.S. Phm., Pharm.D, an Associated Clinical professor at St. John’s University. Rockin’ For Autism

The Developmental Disabilities Institute will once again be heating things up with Long Island’s best rock-n-roll bands to benefit children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities at Mulcahy’s Pub and Music Hall in Wantagh on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. For a $30 donation guests will enjoy the sounds of legendary local bands, gift baskets auction, raffles, food, cash bar and the company of hundreds of fellow Long Islanders. An all star lineup of legendary Long Island bands including 1 Step Ahead, The Cold Spring Harbor Band paying tribute to Billy Joel, 3, and Generation will be set to hit the stage. Babies And BimBam

Clutterers Anonymous (CLA)

A 12-step self-help group, offers help and support to those who have clutter problems in their homes or workplace. Meets at the following locations: Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave, Westbury first and third Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the School of the Community Reformed Church, 90 Plandome Rd, Manhasset. Plainview Lions Club Meeting

Serving the Plainview-Old Bethpage and Bethpage communities since 1957, the Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second Wednesday of every month through July. The Lions Club strives to make a difference in local communities and encourages residents to come in and voice thier concerns.
