A second man was convicted Wednesday of his role in a North Valley Stream home invasion that sparked a police shootout, which ended with a third assailant committing suicide two years ago.
A Nassau County jury found Levy Robinson guilty of robbery, burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Prosecutors said the 46-year-old Queens man and two others forced their way into a home, where they tied up and robbed six members of a family, including four children, at gunpoint on the night of Jan. 16, 2012.
A family member called 911 and a responding officer entered the home, allowing the victims to escape before the officer and suspects traded gunfire.
When police later searched the home, they found Robinson hiding in a bedroom and his alleged accomplice, 36-year-old Timothy Capers, also of Queens, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Detectives later arrested 25-year-old Varinder Singh of North Valley Stream, who was sentenced to seven years in prison last year after pleading guilty to burglary, robbery and one count of criminal possession of a weapon for planning the home invasion.
Robinson faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced May 5 before Judge David Sullivan.
