Grant For Guidance Center

northNorth Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, which has offices in Roslyn Heights, has received a grant of $7,500 from the New York Community Bank Foundation for general operating expenses.

The New York Community Bank Foundation was established in 1997. The Foundation is committed to providing grants designed to further community development, expand home ownership opportunities and provide access to affordable housing in the local community served by New York Community Bank. The Foundation supports local community organizations, such as those in the health, education and culture categories, which contribute to the quality of life of the community.

North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center helps families to raise healthy children and works with kids who are troubled, in trouble, or causing trouble and parents who need help in stressful times. Difficulties range from depression and anxiety, developmental delays and school failure, from substance abuse to family crises stemming from illness, death, trauma, and divorce. The Guidance Center offers outpatient mental health counseling and teen drug abuse and prevention services.

The staff consists of teams of caring psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, drug and alcohol counselors, mental health counselors, and family advocates, with expertise in working with children.
