An 82-year-old Riverside woman who had been reported missing was found dead in the Pine Barrens on the East End over the weekend, New York State police said.
Authorities began searching for Jean Taber after she was reported missing Friday from Riverwoods complex, police said.
Despite interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance video, calling in specialized Blood Hound Units from Troopers upstate as well as deploying aviation units and volunteers around the clock, the victim was found dead at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Taber was found in the David A. Sarnoff Preserve near her home on Riverleigh Avenue, police said.
