A 74-year-old woman was knocked to the ground by a man posing as a Cablevision worker during a Uniondale home invasion on Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.
The victim heard a noise inside her Hempstead Boulevard house when she saw a man inside her screened-in porch who then pushed open the door and ransacked her desk at 8:24 a.m., police said.
The assailant stole a black purse that contained a cell phone, credit cards and cash before he fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
“All authorized Cablevision/Optimum technicians wear uniforms, carry identification, and travel in marked vehicles at all times,” Sarah Chaikin, a spokeswoman for Cablevision Systems Corp., said in a statement. “We are cooperating fully with the police in their investigation of this incident.”
The victim called 911 from a neighbor’s home and was not injured.
First Squad detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
