The Jonas E. Salk Middle School gymnasium in Levittown was transformed into an arena on April 11 for an epic rumble between some of World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest All-stars, to help raise money for the Lee Road Elementary School PTA.
The crowd was electric, as dozens of screaming fans, both old an young, flooded the schoolhouse for the chance to meet some of their all-time favorite WWE Wrestling stars, including: Matt Hardy of the Hardy Boyz, Jake “the Snake” Roberts and Mick Foley aka Mankind, aka Dude Love, aka Cactus Jack. After snapping several photos and collecting autographs, children and parents took their seats as the pros prepared to go head-to-head in the ring.
Although Foley, now retired from the world of wrestling, said he strictly planned to enforce the match from outside the ring, fans at Salk Middle School were given a special treat from the Long Island Native. During the match, Foley joined Roberts and his pet python Damien, in the ring.
In addition to the WWE favorites, promoters with Big Time Wrestling marked their Long Island debut with several arranged bouts featuring in-house favorites, such as Flex Armstrong and the Patriot. Big Time Wrestling first started in 2005, after booking several shows around Boston, Mass. Now, nearly a decade later, Big Time Wrestling has expanded, booking performances up and down the East Coast.
