Letter: No Room For Discrimination

(Below is a copy of a letter sent to County Executive Edward Mangano on April 11)

I write to express grave concern over reports in today’s press that the United States Department of Justice instituted a lawsuit yesterday against the Town of Oyster Bay and Town Supervisor John Venditto for alleged housing discrimination against Black Americans.

This concern is all the more exacerbated by the fact that today’s press also contains extensive coverage of our national celebration of the 50th anniversary of the passage of the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964.

There is no room for any type of discrimination and prejudice in our communities and in our nation. It is for this reason that I am urging that you direct our Nassau County Commission on Human Rights to commence an immediate investigation into these most troubling allegations.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
