The new “Spring Sports” season will be instructed by Jamar West, who is an instructor at the Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports management. Three separate sports programs will be running for six-week sessions beginning this month.
“The Team Challenge Course” will encourage members to work together as a group, think creatively, and collaborate in unique ways to overcome obstacles. Members are guaranteed a good time while also learning about the importance of communication, leadership, trust, and team-building. Classes will be held Mondays, from May 12 through June 23, for members in grades K-6. There will be no session on May 26.
“Fitness Boot Camp” is all about partner work and fun, fitness activities geared towards helping members increase their speed, power, agility, balance, coordinator, and mental strength. Workouts will be varied so that children of any fitness can participate and have fun. Classes will be held Tuesdays, from May 13 through June 17, for members in grades 3-8.
“Mini-Olympics” will bring members together for a fun and competitive outing. Mini-athletes will participate in a variety of rewarding and fun Olympic-style games utilizing exciting sports equipment. This program promises lots of laughs and a competitive spirit. Not all the games are skills-based, so all members will be given a chance to succeed. Classes will be held on Thursdays, May 15 through June 19, for members in grades K-2.
Registration is ongoing at the clubhouse. Each class will be held at the Clubhouse located at One Pine Hollow Rd. in Oyster Bay. The registration fee for each program is $25.
Registrants for athletic programs must have a current club membership. The membership fee is $40 and is valid through May 31, 2015. Once registration fees are paid, there will be no refunds for cancellation, withdrawals or termination.
