Roslyn’s Reich To Lecture

reichOn Thursday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m., the Shelter Rock Jewish Center’s Author/Book series will welcome Roslyn resident Scott D. Reich who will speak about his recent book, The Power Of Citizenship: Why John F. Kennedy Matters To A New Generation.

Reich is an attorney who has traveled the country discussing the principles that Kennedy promoted when he challenged the country to ask “…what you can do for your country…”

How can citizens improve the United States? How can they model good citizenship? Reich’s book was one of the many volumes published last fall to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s death.

The book received numerous pre-publication praises, including those from across the political spectrum. David Eisenhower, grandson of President Dwight Eisenhower called the book, “[The] best and most interesting book written on the Kennedy Presidency in decades. [It] is one of the most moving books I have ever read on patriotism and citizenship, and the power of leadership to inspire both. This book will be read as a primer and a classic on the subjects it covers for many years to come.”

In addition, Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D – Mass.) said the book “delivers a message of service and citizenship that is as essential today as it was when President Kennedy first asked what we could do for our country. At a time when it can be easy to focus on the differences that divide us, Scott makes a powerful and compelling case for the values that unite us.”

There will be a post-talk and book signing as books will be available for purchase.

There is no admission charge but residents must RSVP at 516-741-4305 to let the office know that you will attend.
