The Great Neck Park District is very excited for summer programs to begin. Tennis lessons, Great Neck House summer classes, sailing instruction, camps and so much more are being offered.
Camp Parkwood is one of the district’s top programs that everyone looks forward to, including campers, counselors and parents.
On Thursday, June 12, Park District Recreation Supervisor George Amitrano, offered an 8-hour CPR training class in the lounge at the Parkwood Sports Complex for Camp Parkwood staff.
The Park District’s Sailing instructor, Manny Schweitzer, experienced in first aid and CPR, helped George facilitate the class. George is an instructor- trainer- educator and carries certificates in American Red Cross, CPR, lifeguard training, water safety instruction, emergency responder, shelter operations and first aid.
The Great Neck Park District is one of the leaders in placing AED’s throughout public facilities. Park District Commissioner Robert A. Lincoln, Jr. has been involved with the Park District since the 1970’s and he provided the groundwork that led to the development of the defibrillator program now in place at our major parks and facilities. In addition, Commissioner Lincoln has personally donated funding for the purchase of two defibrillators.
Safety is of the utmost importance and the Park District is looking forward to a summer filled with excitement and fun all while being as safe as possible.
