Local politicians are hailing the passage of legislation that will allow for an air-stripper to be placed on a parcel of land in Christopher Morley Park.
Politicians who represent the Roslyn area in Albany — Senator Jack Martins (R-Mineola) and Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck) — sponsored, respectively, the senate and state assembly bills.
The legislation stipulates that the air stripper can be removed once it is no longer needed. For now, however, local officials have stressed that it is needed to remove toxic Freon and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from a water well in the Roslyn Water District.
