Westbury and Carle Place, hope you’re hungry. The Chamber of Commerce is holding its first Taste of Westbury/Carle Place event July 15, dishing up a smorgasbord of signature fare from several local restaurants.

Each summer, the chamber usually holds a music event at Carle Place High School. This year, they decided to switch it up and hold a tasting.

“This event is a great opportunity for the local restaurants to get their name out there in the community,” said Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce President Frank Frisone. “The event will encourage people to eat locally, as each restaurant will be handing out their delicious signature dishes.”

Frisone says there are currently around 25 confirmed restaurants. Among the participating eateries are local restaurants like CHI, Mirelle’s and Rialto, and franchises such as Famous Dave’s, Joe’s Crab Shack, Noodles and Co., and Tim Horton’s. And what’s a meal without dessert? Maria’s Bakery, Chocolate Works, Red Mango and an old school Good Humor ice cream truck will be on hand with plenty of goodies to satisfy any sweet tooth. There will also be music, a cash bar and several raffles throughout the night.

Frisone says that his vision for the summer events is to give back to the community organizations that have supported the Chamber not only with a fun event, but financially.

“We have always given a cash donation to both the Carle Place seniors and Westbury seniors on monies above our cost on our summer events. We plan on doing the same this year,” Frisone says. “I’m also working on a scholarship initiative that would give one high school senior from both Westbury and Carle Place High School a $500 scholarship. It’s our way of giving back.”
