A 26-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle in his hometown of Center Moriches on Thursday morning.

Suffolk County police said Victor Morales was riding a bike on Montauk Highway when he tried to cross the roadway near the corner of Railroad Avenue and was hit by an eastbound Nissan Pathfinder at 7:25 a.m.

The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, 60-year-old Vera Bailey of Shirley, was not injured.

Seventh Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
