Soldier Ride
The annual long-distance bicycle tour and fundraiser is back to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project, a nonprofit group dedicated to helping returning veterans transition recover from war wounds and to civilian life. The first 25-mile leg starts in Lindenhurst and ends at Overlook Beach. That’s followed by a 5K from Amagansett to Sag Harbor. Great South Bay Music Festival
Blues legend B.B. King, jam band Moe. and local rockers Taking Back Sunday headline this three-day, bay front music fest—billed as the largest such event on Long Island—on four stages covering a variety of genres. Electronic Musicians Collective
This group of electronic artists who roll jazz and blues into high-energy dance songs as well as groovier dub jams have joined forces to expose Long Island to the genre-blending sound. LIU Post Chamber Music Festival

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto! We’re still not sure what that means—but who cares?!? James R. Hansen Book Signing
The bestselling author will be in Montauk signing copies of his latest book, A Difficult Par: Robert Trent Jones Sr. and the Making of Modern Golf. The William Floyd Estate Comes to Patchogue
A reception for a selection of photographs, commissioned by the National Park Service, by  Long Island artist/photographer Xiomaro capturing the historic William Floyd Estate in a new light. The exhibit will be on display along with select artifacts from the Estate, at the Watch Hill Ferry Terminal through Aug. 17. Snow White
The legendary fairy tale is making a comeback, sort of. Snow White fans packed movie theaters earlier this year for the prequel, Maleficient starring Angelina Jolie, which pushed the story of Snow White and the seven dwarves back into the public consciousness. Parents can re-live the Disney magic once again—with the kids, of course—on stage instead of the big screen. We hear Prince Charming is making an appearance. Pole Position Raceway Opens
The chain of indoor motorsports entertainment facilities opens their first location on Long Island, touting the fastest electric karts on the East Coast, hitting speeds up to 45 mph. The 120,000-square foot facility boasts two quarter-mile tracks. It also features adult karts for racers who are at least 58 inches tall and separate junior karts for kids who are at least 48 inches tall.
