On Thursday August 7, Chief Michael Farrone presented Emergency Medical Service Unit Citations to Lieutenant Lee Genser, Michael Spigner and Joseph Toole, all Advanced Emergency Medical Technician-Critical Cares with the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department.
The citation was given for an incident that occurred on April 26, when the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Ambulance Unit was dispatched for a reported cardiac arrest. A M-LFD Ambulance, First Response Unit and Deputy Chief were all on the road within a minute and were advised by the dispatcher that the Nassau County Police Department was on scene with CPR in progress and that two police ambulances were also responding.
Upon arrival, police officers were found performing CPR and had administered a shock with their automated external defribulator – AED.
They immediately established advanced life support measures.
The patient was transported by both fire and police ambulance personnel to an area hospital where upon arrival in the emergency room, the patient began to regain consciousness.
