Long-time Great Neck Park District Commissioner Ruth Tamarin resigned on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at a park board meeting. Tamarin, who has served in this post for the past 15 years, did not attend the meeting, but sent a letter that stated that she was resigning for personal reasons.
Park district elections are Dec. 9. Two seats are up for election: Commissioner Dan Nachmanoff is up for re-election and Tamarin’s now vacant seat will also be open. A candidate could choose to run for Nachmanoff’s three-year term or for the two-year term vacated by Tamarin.
