Enough, I am tired of the Apple Store bashing letters in the Manhasset Press. This week a letter with the headline, “Unsafe Driving by Apple Store” seems like a subtle or not so subtle attempt to embarrass a national retailer who elected to build a modern, tasteful store in our community. Would the writer even have written his complaint letter if the young driver with whom the writer disagreed with, had turned left towards Crate and Barrel instead of right into the Apple side of parking?
I think not. This letter was an attempt to bash Apple.
As a community with a lot of national retailers, which help to support our schools with their taxes, we should feel fortunate that the #1 most popular brand—Apple (the NY Times reported this week) decided to select Manhasset. When Apple came to New York State, they built only two stores—the first in Manhattan and the second in Manhasset. Apple came at a time when we needed jobs and good jobs. Apple’s free high tech classes are a convenient learning experience for aging baby boomers like myself. Apple is an asset to our community in so many ways.
As easy as it was for Apple to move to Manhasset they can always pull out. An exit of Apple would send a shuddering effect to other retailers contemplating a move to Manhasset. If the writer is unhappy about the retail traffic around him then he should contact his village board, not the Manhasset Press.
