Winthrop speakers to appear
at library presentation
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the four Property Owners’ Associations of Garden City will be jointly sponsoring a special public service presentation regarding facts and fallacies surrounding Ebola. Guest speakers will include John F. Collins, president and CEO of Winthrop-University Hospital, and Dr. Michael Ammazzalorso, Winthrop’s Chief Medical Officer.
Collins and Dr. Ammazzalorso will speak to residents about Winthrop’s overall Ebola preparedness, protocols for screening individuals who come to the hospital, either at the emergency room or for elective procedures, employee training, details of the hospital’s isolation unit, as well as county-wide preparations. Dr. Ammazzalorso will also be able to answer questions about the nature of the disease, symptoms, and known risks for infection.
The meeting will be held in the lower level conference room of the Garden City Public Library and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The library, which is located at the corner of 60 Seventh St. and Hilton Ave., in Garden City.
