The next public meeting of the Farmingdale School District Board of Education will be held at 8 p.m., on Nov. 5 at Howitt Middle School, 70 Van Cott Ave.

Chamber Meeting / Elections
The next meeting/annual elections of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will be held at noon on Nov. 6, at Palmer’s American Grille, 123 Fulton St. in Farmingdale, featuring special guest speaker Rachelle Neuwirth with North Shore-LIJ who will be discussing health care. Members cost $23, non-members $28.

South Farmingdale Fire Department Open House
On Nov. 7, come down to the South Farmingdale Fire Department at 819 Main St., from 7 to 10 p.m., and meet your local volunteers and see the equipment they use. Come meet Sparky the dog, visit the teddy bear clinic, check your child safety seat, witness live demonstrations of the Jaws of Life and an oven fire, screen your blood pressure and more.

KilianFest
On Nov. 8, join the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, from 7-11 p.m., in the auditorium at 50 Cherry St. in Farmingdale for KilianFest. Sponsored by the St. Kilian’s Pastoral Council, the event features raffle prizes, live music from the Electric Dudes, your choice of six entrees, bread, salsa, beer, wine, soda and homemade desserts. Costs $40 per person. The church is also requesting any non-perishable food and/or toiletry items for Outreach.
Farmingdale Baseball League Food Drive
On Nov. 8, join the Farmingdale Greendogs 16U baseball team in the parking lot outside the FBLI offices at 66 Motor Ave., across the street from Allen Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., when they will be holding a food drive to benefit Long Island Harvest.

Award Winning Author Debra Marquart
On Nov. 13, meet award-winning author Debra Marquart as she visits SUNY Farmingdale State College’s Ward Hall, at 11 a.m., for a reading of her poetry and non-fiction works. The event, sponsored by Farmingdale’s Visiting Writers Program, is free and open to the public.

Bethpage Turkey Drive
Long Island’s largest food drive event, the sixth annual Bethpage Turkey Drive to benefit Island Harvest Food Bank will take place at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union main branch, at 899 South Oyster Bay Rd. in Bethpage, on Nov. 18, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Long Islanders are asked to donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items or cash donations. These donations will go directly to Island Harvest which will then help supply Thanksgiving holiday meals to the more than 300,000 hungry Long Islanders through its distribution to 570 food pantries and agencies on Long Island.
