A hit-and-run driver killed a 64-year-old man who was walking down a road in his hometown of Central Islip early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Lorenzo Fuentes was walking on Motor Parkway when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene at the corner of Highland Road at 4:50 a.m., police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a silver metallic-colored, late model Dodge or Chrysler with damage to the front and passenger side.

Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are continuing the investigation and ask ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information about the incident to call them at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
