An East Quogue man has been accused of trying to rape a 21-year-old woman who he pushed to the ground while she was leaving her job in Hampton Bays over the weekend.
Southampton Town Police arrested Abner A. Ortiz-Tezen on charges of first-degree attempted rape, unlawful imprisonment, assault and criminal obstruction of airway.
Police said the 21-year-old suspect wrestled the victim to the ground, covered her airway, and tried to sexually assault her as she left her job at a business on Montauk Highway East at 9:49 p.m. Saturday.
The victim fought him off and screamed for help, causing the suspect to flee, police said.
A Southampton Town Justice Court judge set bail for Ortiz-Tezen at $400,000.
