Here Comes Brother Sun
The powerful harmony trio Brother Sun comprised of Joe Jencks, Greg Greenway, and Pat Wictor, will be performing at the Garden Stage Coffee House, 223 Stewart Avenue, Garden City on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8:30 p.m. (There will be an open mic at 7:30 p.m.)
“What happens when you unite three of the best male singers in the folk realm who already revel in harmony singing? Brother Sun.” says Rich Warren, longtime host of WMFT Chicago’s nationally syndicated folk radio show The Midnight Special. Joe Jencks, Greg Greenway and Pat Wictor have made their mark as veteran touring singer-songwriters, but Brother Sun is no songwriter’s round. Warren continues, “While numerous delightful female trios harmonize, few men bond that way these days (unlike the days of the folk revival when they were the norm). Added to great voices, energy and sincerity are worthy compositions in three distinct styles that bring to mind a modern day gospel.”
From literally three major points on the map—Chicago, Boston, and New York—Jencks, Greenway, and Wictor have truly blended themselves into Brother Sun, a unique celebration of the amazing power of singing together. Fusing folk, Americana, blues, pop, jazz, rock, and a cappella singing. Their combined musical skills make for an unforgettable experience – three rich voices blending on a well-crafted foundation of guitar, slide guitar, and piano.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door. For tickets and more information, please email calendar@uuccn.org or call 516-248-8891. Garden Stage is located at the UU Congregation of Central Nassau at 223 Stewart Ave., (corner of Nassau Blvd.) in Garden City, a half block north of the Long Island Rail Road Nassau Boulevard Station. For more information please visit www.gardenstage.com, www.uuccn.org or call 516-248-8891.
