Suffolk County police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a man inside his home in North Bay Shore Friday night.

Police said a male suspect was at the door of the N. Gardiner Drive home when a resident of the house let the suspect inside. The victim, James Creekmore, who also lived in the house, had just returned home when he was gunned down, police said.

The suspect fled the scene at 9:55 p.m., police said.

Creekmore was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
