Cops: Couple Stole Food, Cookware from Medford Assisted Living Facility

A homeless man and his girlfriend were caught on camera allegedly stealing food and metal trays from a Medford assisting living facility early Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Dwayne Murphy, 42, and Allison Brown, 44, of Coram, were arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.

An employee at The Hamlet monitoring security footage watched as the couple allegedly entered a rear door and proceeded to steal food and cookware, police said. Employees at The Hamlet, located on North Ocean Avenue, then called 911. Police said the burglary occurred just after 2 a.m.

Fifth Precinct Det. Sgt. Allan Feinstein said the couple allegedly stole bread, milk, pies and metal trays.

Brown, who lives in Coram, was arrested at the scene, police said. Murphy, who police said is homeless, was apprehended in Central Islip.

Murphy was also charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Brown is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip; Murphy will be arraigned Sunday.
