National Blood Donor Month
The American Red Cross asks eligible blood donors to make a resolution to give blood regularly in 2015, beginning with National Blood Donor Month in January. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative. The Plainview donation center is Tiger Schulmann’s, located at 1161 Old Country Rd. Tax Grievance Workshop
Legislators Rose Marie Walker and Laura Schaefer will be hosting A “Property Tax Assessment Grievance Workshop” today from 7-9 p.m. at the Bethpage Public Library auditorium and lobby. Homeowners will learn how to fill out this application, which will be provided. This workshop will be conducted with a power point demonstration, outlining how to fill out the grievance forms. There is no individual help for completing the forms.

Yoga: Morning Session I
Yoga is an exercise for everyone of all ages with benefits to both mental and physical health. Marie DiPrimo will once again be conducting two sessions of her very popular yoga classes on Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings. A $40 payment for all classes is required upon registration at Reference Desk. Participants are required to bring a yoga sticky mat, blanket, yoga belt and yoga block for all classes. Class runs from 9:15-10:15 a.m. at the Bethpage Public Library meeting room.

Screening: Comfort Women
One Last Cry: The Story of the Comfort Women, film will be shown at the Plainview Library at 2 p.m. The Story of the Comfort Women documents the heartbreaking story of girls forced into sex slavery by the Japanese military. Run by David Lee, President of the Korean-American Public Affairs Committee. Assemblyman Charles Lavine will attend the program and make opening remarks.

Driftwood-Based Animal Habitat Sculpture
Take an imaginary stroll to the seashore and make a sculptured animal habitat from natural materials and clay worked onto real driftwood pieces. Learn about the unfortunate hazards affecting beach wildlife due to human negligence and how your sculpture can help. Presenter and certified art therapist Lauren Singer will aid you in creating a warm and comfortable environment for the animals that live along our coastlines. Danny Kean & Friends will perform a soulful concert of R&B, rock and jazz. Featuring a vibrant and eclectic mix of old and new, the performance will take place at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, located at 999 Old Country Road, in Plainview at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Movie: Million Dollar Arm
Come to the POB Library auditorium for a 2:30 p.m. showing of the movie Million Dollar Arm. In a last-ditch effort to save his career, sports agent J.B.
