Obituary: Jeffrey Ketcham

Jeffrey H. Ketcham of Hawley, PA (formerly of Garden City) passed away on Jan. 23. He was born in Mineola, the son of Frank Howard and Ethel Ketcham. He was educated in the Mineola Public Schools on Long Island, Class of 1960 and attended Upsala College in East Orange, NJ, Class of 1964. He went on to obtain further business degrees from The University of Michigan School of Business, The University of Illinois School of Business and The Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.
On March 9, 1974, he was married to the former Anna M. Seebode in New York. They have two children, Scott and Susan.

After a short professional football career playing for the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes, Ketcham was a branch manager and later an officer in the Governmental Bond Department of Chemical Bank, and a partner at G.X. Clarke and Company (now INTL FCStone Partners L.P.) from 1979 to 1997. He was later employed by Hofstra University’s Department of Development, the Dime Bank of Hawley as a financial analyst and by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans as a financial advisor.
Jeff was active in multiple community endeavors wherever he lived. He was the president of the Garden City Men’s Association, vice-president of the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation, coached local Garden City youth in basketball, lacrosse and baseball, was on the board of the Brandt Decker Memorial Golf Tournament, and was an active member of both The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hawley, PA; Ketcham was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Anne, his son Scott and his wife Marissa of Allentown, PA and a daughter Susan of Charlottesville, VA. He also leaves behind his brother and best friend Russell and his wife Carol of Carle Place. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews that he adored.
There was a memorial service held on Saturday, Jan. 31 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, which is located at 405 Church St. in Hawley, PA.
