Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker announced today that she will host a Pet Food Drive in conjunction with Long Island Cares Fourth Annual Legislative Food Drivedog with bowl Challenge and Live Love Bark. This year’s food drive will have a special focus on helping local animals in need. Legislator Walker’s office will be accepting donations of pet food and supplies from February 23 through March 23.

“For many of us, pets are more than just companions, they are part of the family,” said Walker. “Sometimes it comes down to a choice between paying a bill or purchasing food for a pet. Many times, pets wind up at shelters because of this struggle. One can of dog or cat food can make the difference in the lives of these pets and their owners.”

From now until March 23, Legislator Walker’s Office will be collecting pet supplies for dogs, cats, hamsters, fish and ferrets. Items being accepted include but are not limited to bags of food, canned food, pet treats, kitty litter and new pet toys. Donations can be dropped off at the Legislator’s Office at 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
