Plaza Sidewalks

Whose brilliant idea was it to encourage installation of brick sidewalks in Great Neck Plaza?

Thanks to the freeze-thaw cycle, [the sidewalk troubles have been] exacerbated by recent severe winters. They are heaving and buckling; for especially egregious examples, see the walks by the Chase and Citibank branches on Grace Avenue, but the problem is widespread. Even where they’re reasonably intact, they hold ice far worse than cement sidewalks. Even the bricks with names at North Station Plaza and Middle Neck Road are worn to the point where the honorees’ [names] are obscured.

The brick sidewalks should be replaced with either cement or pavers (which don’t have the spaces of the bricks).
