Poetry Reading
Poet and author Vince Gotera will read from his collected works at Farmingdale State College in the Great Room in Ward Hall at 11 a.m. Gotera, a professor of English at the University of Northern Iowa and editor of the North American Review, has published poetry, fiction, non-fiction and literary criticism. His books include Dragon Fly, a poetry collection; Radical Visions: Poetry by Vietnam Veterans; and Fighting Kite. He was a 2013 runner-up for Farmingdale’s Paumanok Award. Farmingdale State College is located at 2350 Broad Hollow Rd. The activity is open to the public.

Indoor Flea Market
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at 190 Conklin St. is hosting an indoor Flea Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds for charity. Collectibles, art, furniture, house wares, musical instruments, electronics, toys, children’s items, tools, luggage, DVDs, books, food and raffles will be featured. Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Farmingdale Village’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities takes place at 1 p.m. The parade kicks off from Northside School, and it spans about 1/2 mile down Main Street to the Village Green, including local community groups, Pipe Bands, Village officials and more. After the parade join in family fun activities at the Village Green, explore downtown merchants and restaurants, many offer tastings and specials.“We are honored to have Nassau County Legislator Rose Walker as the Grand Marshal and look forward to a great Parade and family day in Farmingdale Village”, said Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand. Comedy Night
The chamber is sponsoring a comedy night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall. There will be a buffet dinner, beer, wine and three comedians will perform. Local restaurants donate the food and the proceeds from the event support our Farmingdale High School Fund and other community events. For tickets, call Chris Wider at 516-752-1007.
