Blood Drive
Help neighbors through the Red Cross and become an everyday hero by giving blood in celebration of Red Cross Month this March. By donating blood, eligible donors can help save the lives of patients in need. Those who are unable to give blood can support blood donations by organizing a blood drive, volunteering to assist with Red Cross activities or creating a SleevesUp virtual blood drive online at redcrossblood.org/SleevesUp and asking others to make a lifesaving donation. Movie: Foxcatcher
The Massapequa Public Library Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. screening of the movie Foxcatcher. Based on the true story of Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum), who is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins “coaching” a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral. Starring Stever Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Sienna Miller. (2014; R 2 hrs 15 mins).

Free Tax Return Preparation
Tax return preparation at both branches of the Massapequa Public Library will be done by appointment. To make an appointment, please call 516-798-4607 or 516-799-0770. The service will take place on Thursday mornings at the Central Avenue Library from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and on Fridays at the Bar Harbour library building. Bring a picture ID, last year’s tax return, W-2 forms, 1099 forms and all broker and bank information. You must bring the amount of your property taxes from 2014. Both parties must be present when completing joint returns.
