It’s cookie season and Girl Scouts are selling cookies nearby. Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Farmingdale Village’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities takes place at 1 p.m. The parade kicks off from Northside School, and it spans about 1/2 mile down Main Street to the Village Green, including local community groups, Pipe Bands, village officials and more. After the parade join in family fun activities at the Village Green, explore downtown merchants and restaurants, many offer tastings and specials. “We are honored to have Nassau County Legislator Rose Walker as the Grand Marshal and look forward to a great parade and family day in Farmingdale Village”, said Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand. Candy Making
Learn how to make candy at the Chocolate Duck, 310 Main St., Farmingdale, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
A resident pastry designer will share techniques that will make your chocolate creations easier than you ever imagined. She will show you how to do the most basic molding to the more advanced ways of filling candies, making rich delicious truffles, and hollow and solid chocolate molding. The fee is $125. Flower Power
Farmingdale State College will hold its 5th annual Sustainable Garden Conference “Flower Power: Growing and Designing with Flowers for All Seasons” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held in the Campus Center Ballroom A. The conference, sponsored by Farmingdale’s Department of Urban Horticulture and Design, will include lectures, book and flower sales, plant and art auctions, and lunch. All speakers are experts in their fields: growers and farmers; floral and landscape designers; marketers and entrepreneurs; scientists and historians. Speakers include Carolyn Summers, author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East; Dr. Michael Barry, owner of Rose Meadow Farm in Brookhaven; Dr. Diane Barthel-Bouchier, founder of the American Society of Botanical Artists, and Michael Veracka, chair of Farmingdale’s Department of Urban Horticulture and Design. The admission price is $65 for members of the community, and $35 for students.

Comedy Night
The chamber is sponsoring a comedy night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall. There will be a buffet dinner, beer, wine and three comedians will perform.
