Arts Center Looks For Interns

artsWEBVolunteers and interns are valued members of the Gold Coast Arts Center (GCAC, formerly the Great Neck Arts Center) community. They might be able to receive high school or college credit, as well as community service hours, when applicable. And, in addition, what a fun, enriching experience for all who would just love this opportunity.

Since GCAC is so diverse, it is a great place for a true art lovers to share their particular area of interest.

The GCAC is currently seeking interns ages 14 and over for the exciting SummerArts Camp. They are looking for interns who are “passionate about the arts, enjoy working with children and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.” SummerArts interns will assist in teaching artists in the classroom, assist with organization and planning and participate in creative areas such as art, music, dance, theater and chess. This is a wonderful opportunity for high school and college students to develop creativity and leadership skills. And for these older students, community service credit and a letter of recommendation will be supplied, when requested.

In addition, a whole host of other volunteer and intern opportunities are available. Volunteers are needed to assist with the administrative needs, including typing, filing, data entry, and help with direct mail campaigns. GCAC “ambassadors” are needed to make public appearances and set up and staff informational booths at community events (orientation and training will be provided). Volunteers are also needed to help with preparations for GNAC special events. And, of course, volunteers are needed to assist with the many Arts Center’s film programs.

Qualified volunteers are also sought to provide audio-visual assistance at various Arts Center performances and events. This would include taking photographs and videos at events, video editing and managing websites.
