Due to a recent accommodation by the New York State Education Department, students and staff do not need to return to school to make up for a snow day to meet state aid attendance requirements.

Schools Open

Schools in the Hicksville School District will be open to make up for a lost snow day.  

Meet The Psychics

Get up close and personal with some of the Eyes of Learning’s readers, mediums and psychics. The audience will be seated in semi-circles and psychics will spend 20 to 25 minutes in each circle before rotating to the next one. Free Arts and Crafts

Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to this free arts and crafts program held by the Town of Oyster Bay. The program runs Saturdays until May  30 and there will be a new craft featured each week. At Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy., Hicksville. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Register your child by calling 516-933-6400.

Spring Festival

Eyes of Learning will host their Spring Festival at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy., in Hicksville. There will be raffles, vendors, free lectures, food, camaraderie and the option to purchase your own psychic reading. American Girl Casting

Our Lady of Mercy School is looking for models for their annual American Girl Fashion Show in October. Clothing will be provided in sizes 6 to 10. Celebrate the experience of being a girl, whether yesterday or today, through a colorful presentation of historical and contemporary fashions. Cabaret Night

Barbara Rosene and Her New Yorkers return to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Jerusalem Ave., Hicksville, for an evening of jazz, pop and standards of the 40s, 50s and 60s. The performance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.  For more information, please call 516-681-0552.

The Hicksville School District will adopt their budget at this special meeting at 8:30 p.m. in the administration building.

Dinner and Sinatra Fundraiser

Sons of Italy Galileo Galilei Lodge #2253 in Hicksville will be hosting a scholarship fundraising event featuring Jerry Cardone at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center, 28 W. Carl St. From 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. Make checks payable to Galileo Galilei Lodge 2253. There will be dinner, music, dessert and raffles. VFW Post 3211 Hicksville Ladies Auxiliary will hold a fundraising event with psychic medium Robert Hansen at 320 S. Broadway, Hicksville. There will be hot appetizers from 6 to 7 p.m. and open readings from 7 to 9 p.m. $50 per person, seating is limited. For tickets call Joann at 516-342-1112.

Storytelling Event

St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Hicksville is having a story telling event in which people from the Hicksville community will tell recount something that happened to them or someone close to them that had a major impact on their life or faith. The story should be about 5-10 minutes in length and be appropriate for all ages. The event is scheduled for April 26 at noon.
