Children who enroll at summer camp at the Gold Coast Arts Center are certain to enjoy wonderful fun-filled creative days at this special arts camp. Terrific creative arts classes of all kinds are being offered this summer. Camp is from July 6 to Aug. 21; choose one week or all seven.
Summer camp at the Gold Coast Arts Center is daily, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There are programs for youngsters ages 6 to 9 and for tweens and teens from ages 9 to 13.
Drawing & Painting is from July 6 to July 10. This painting and drawing class includes collages and sculpture. It is all inspired by nature and the world around us. This class also includes a daily dance session.
Music & Movement is from July 13 to July 17. Come to this class to learn the fundamentals of music, movement and rhythm through guitar, keyboard and percussion instruments. This class includes a daily art session.
Acting for Stage & Screen runs from July 20 to July 24. Come to learn acting techniques for theater and film by working on scenes to be performed live before an audience and recorded on film. Class includes a joint scene work, improvisation and relaxation techniques. The class also includes a daily art session.
3D Art is set for July 27 to July 31. This offering is creative and unique and includes imaginative projects using a variety of mediums, including wood, paper, paper mâché, wire and more. A daily dance session is included.
Musical theater runs from Aug. 3 to Aug. 14, a two-week session. Singers, musicians and dancers of all levels will explore and create their own renditions of contemporary and theatrical hits. Included are daily classes in voice, basic music and dance to familiarize students with performing on stage.
Chess Camp: Kings, Queens & Knights, runs from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21. This class is open to students of all levels and abilities; no prior experience required. Learn to play chess and improve your chess ability in an engaging and fun environment that includes chess puzzles and tournament play. Program includes additional arts classes to ensure a well-balanced, fun and multidisciplinary week.
Cartoon camp lets students bring their characters to life. This runs from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21. Student draw their favorite cartoons and create their own characters using ink and color. Students will develop basic drawing and storytelling skills and learn to imagine and create a cartoon strip. Included are daily movement sessions.
Lunch and a snack are included in the program this summer.
The summer fees for this year’s arts camp are as follows; one week, $410 for members and $435 for non-members; two to five weeks, $385 per week for members and $410 per week for non-members; six and seven weeks, $360 per week for member and $385 per week for non-members.
