The Mineola Junior Fire Department held its annual Installation of Officers recently. More than 170 guests were present at the affair. The fire department officers also supported the junior fire department Mayor Scott Strauss swore in the lieutenants Andrew Desiderio, Matteo Itri and Bryan Franz first, then it was Captain Neal Ressa turn to take in his swearing in as he will be captain until next April.
All the officers are very dedicated to the junior fire department organization and rightly earned their positions. Adriel Santoli was sworn in as Sergeant At Arms and Stephen Limazopoulos as secretary for the coming year. Awards were giving out to Andre Dias for the most activities attended and Paul Samaritano for the most funds raises by a member that is required by in support of the junior fire department.
Certificates were given out to members who achieved 100 points in activities this year in Alex Kirkoiran, Steven Saar, Neal Ressa, Nunzio Vetrano and Andre Dias.
Firefighter Brendan Coringan received the Walter Langer Scholarship Award, which was presented to him by the late ex-chiefs wife Janet Langer and his daughter Loretta Langer Fromes.

Langer was well thought of in the Mineola Fire Department and work hard for the betterment of the department.
This year the junior firefighter of the year went to Neal Ressa Jr. He has shown leadership and dedication to the organization while working around his school work plus playing football and lacrosse at Mineola High School.
He would come home from practices and make important junior fire department events and trainings. Ressa Jr. is truly a responsible person and very popular with his fellow junior members plus the firefighters and advisors.
