As always, the Fourth of July is a major day for the village of East Hills. Residents usually head to the Park at East Hills where they spend the day at the pool, playing tennis, or eating at the food stand catered by La Bottega. As the day progresses and the sky gets darker, live music is performed, then the star of the night takes its position. As with countless celebrations across the United States, it is the fireworks display that people were waiting to see.
This year, the display was sponsored by Rallye Motors. The fireworks were launched from two locations: behind most of the trees near the nature trail and right in front of the crowd. The crowd watched in awe as these magnificent colors lit up the sky in different shapes and in different directions. Accompanying the giant boom from the fireworks was patriotic music that was set to a track perfectly synced with the fireworks.
When asked about the event, East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz said his favorite part of the night was “seeing the families having a great time.” For many longtime East Hills residents, the opening of the park remains a groundbreaking event. As always, the night ended perfectly organized with the help of the great park attendants at East Hills, the dedicated members of East Hills security and the Nassau County Police Department. Residents and guests all left with a smile on their face, while talking about the amazing display they saw. “These were the most impressive fireworks I’ve ever seen,” one resident said.
