Summer Gazebo Concert Series
Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks is please to announce its Gazebo Concert Series on the village green (corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues.) This week, Piece of the Rock performs. All concerts begin at 7:15 p.m. Bring chairs or blankets. Concerts are held rain or shine. In the event of less than perfect weather, the concert will be held at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall at 295 Stewart Ave.

Friday Night Promenade
Every Friday during the summer, Seventh Street will be closed for the “Friday Night Promenades”, from 6 until 10 p.m. There will outdoor dining, live entertainment, face painting, balloon animals and much more on Seventh Street. Shops will remain open during the evening for everyone’s convenience.

Marvelous Movie Matinée
A screening of the 2007 Woody Allen thriller Cassandra’s Dream starring Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor and Tom Wilkinson will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. Superman—TV Show Marathon
From 5 to 8:45 p.m., the YA department will host a marathon showing of DVDs of the original Superman series which first appeared as a television series in 1952 and starred George Reeves. Drop in for an episode or stay for several. Take note of the advancements in special effects and the original storylines. No registration is required and refreshments will be available. Molly Mouse Superhero
You are invited to the Garden City Public Library at 10:30 a.m. for Molly Mouse Superhero with Playhooray. This fun program is for children ages 2 ½ to 5 (not entering kindergarten in fall 2015) and an adult caregiver. Each child participating in the program will need his or her own library card to register for the program. You must do a separate registration for each child you wish to attend the program. Please arrive promptly. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list. Funding for this program has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Be Creative With Lego Bricks
The Lego Club will host two special summer programs, called Be Creative with Lego Bricks, one for grades K-2 and one for grades 3-5, at the library, which will require registration. The Lego Club will then resume meeting monthly in September. No registration is required and children are accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Yak & Snack Book Discussions
Registration began on June 29 online on Eventkeeper for this Yak & Snack Book Discussion. From 7 to 8 p.m., John Green’s Paper Towns will be discussed. Come and share your opinions.
