Oyster Bay Town Clerk James Altadonna Jr. recently attended the Long Island 2 Day 5K Walk to Fight Breast Cancer (LI2DAY) held at the Hemlock Street entrance adjacent to the Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. In the eleven years since the first LI2DAY Walk, the organization has raised more than $11 million to fight breast cancer.
Additionally, LI2DAY has awarded $150,000 in scholarships to 60 students, a yearly breast cancer research grant to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and funded programs that have assisted over 145,000 Long Islanders. Through local grassroots organizations from Manhasset to Montauk, these programs assist with medical expenses, transportation, prosthetics and wigs, physical therapy, child care, research, education and more. Town Clerk Altadonna is pictured with Race Director Ginny Salerno and the many participants who all came together for a worthy cause and helped to save lives.
