The Board of Fire Commissioners, Chief’s Office, officers and members of the Levittown Fire Department and Engine Co. 2 deeply regret to announce the sudden passing of Department Secretary and 32-year life member John Gino.
John Gino served 32 years with Engine Co. 2 as a firefighter, EMT, MPO and Lieutenant. He was the department secretary for 13 years, and served the department in numerous other capacities including dispatching, the chair of numerous committees, the department representative at multiple chief’s conventions, chair of the installation dinner and coach of the softball team.
He also always found the time to serve the community at department sponsored functions and events, including school visits during Fire Prevention Week, and at the annual open house where he delighted children as the voice of Freddy the Fire Dog.
His willingness to always respond expeditiously to the administrative needs of the members and officers was first and foremost in his role of department secretary, and no request ever went unanswered without humor and efficiency.
In acknowledgement and appreciation of his efforts and dedication to the department over 100 members turned out for his full dress uniform wake and funeral services.
The department extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Gino family.
