A 60-year-old North Amityville man was fatally hit by a car in Copiague on Thursday afternoon.

Suffolk County police said Jorge Molina was walking in the roadway on Sunrise Highway when he was struck by an eastbound Hyundai Sonata between Great Neck Road and Bayview Road at 2:40 p.m.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was neither injured nor charged.

Route 27 was closed in both directions while investigators were on the scene.

First Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
