Bookmobile Visits Great Neck

Bookmobile_091615CAPAGreat Neck residents are invited to explore OverDrive’s state-of-the-art Digital Bookmobile and learn more about the Great Neck Library’s collection of free eBooks and e-Audiobooks on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the upper lot of the Parkwood Pool, 65 Arrandale Ave.

Those interested are encouraged to bring their own device and receive hands-on training, at no cost, on how to download selections from the OverDrive digital library onto their smartphone or tablet. This event is free and open to all (you do not need to have a Great Neck Library card). Do bring your card if you have one. If you would like to sign up for a card, you can do so at the event.

Building on the tradition and admiration of the bookmobile, which for generations has engaged communities with library materials and services, the mission of the Digital Bookmobile is to help libraries across North America promote the digital services available to their communities, noted Great Neck Library Executive Director, Kathy Giotsas. “Readers of all ages can learn about and engage with digital collections when the Digital Bookmobile visits Great Neck.”

There will be Digital Storytimes to enjoy every hour on the half-hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aboard the 74-foot-long traveling exhibit, five spaces showcase eBooks, audiobooks, a gadget gallery and more.

Giotsas would like to give a special thanks to the Great Neck School District and board for providing the library with access to the Parkwood upper lot for this special community event. Call 516-466-8055 with any questions. The Bookmobile event will take place rain or shine.
