A driver was killed after crashing on the Southern State Parkway, sending the car airborne into the opposite lane of traffic, where it collided with another vehicle Friday night in Wantagh.

New York State police said the driver was heading eastbound in a Honda Accord when he crashed into the center median, sending the car airborne into the westbound lanes, where it collided with a Nissan Maxima near the Wantagh State Parkway.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name wasn’t immediately released. The driver and passengers in the Nissan suffered minor injuries.

State Troopers ask anyone with any information to call them at 631-756-3300.
