Young artists at Hampton Street School have been learning about the Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian.A painter who used primary colors to shape paintings in the style of Abstract Art from the 1900’s, first-graders have been creating collages inspired by Mondrian’s art. Not only does it reinforce the primary colors of red, yellow and blue, but taught students about geometric shapes and vertical and horizontal lines.
This project also requires measuring and counting so it is interdisciplinary with Math.
