Girl Scout Cadettes from Troops 407, 411 and 429 used their recent day off from school to help out in the community. Under the guidance of Holly Byrne, executive administrator for the Port Washington Parks Conservancy, and Jennifer Wison-Pines, president of the Port Washington Parks Conservancy, the girls spent the afternoon working at Stannards Park. They cleaned trash from the stream, planted seasonal mums and made and hung biodegradable bird feeders. For many of the girls, it was their first time at the park and they were amazed by its beauty. The Scouts would like to thank North Shore Garden Center for donating the mums for their project. North Shore Garden Center is located at
53 Avenue A.
