The Great Neck Park District and fourth graders from Saddle Rock Elementary School joined forces earlier this month for what has become an annual event.
Students, teachers, parents, Park District Commissioners Robert A. Lincoln, Jr., Daniel M. Nachmanoff and Frank S. Cilluffo,
Deputy Superintendent Lisa Goldberg, Steppingstone Park Supervisor Curtis Phillips and Park Maintainers Peter Ojemke and Nick Martakis had a wonderful time cultivating their green thumbs.
The Park District staff provided the gloves, digging tools, tulip bulbs and their skillful expertise. Park Supervisor Phillips guided and directed the children on where and how to plant the flowers.
It’s a wonderful experience for the children to plant something, nurture it and watch it grow. The children will see the fruits of their labor in the springtime when the flowers planted sprout.
